Destination: Chateau des Pommiers, Southern Burgundy
Southern Burgundy is steeped in History. From Roman times the area has been famous for winemaking and religious activity. In the last two hundred years it has become synonymous with fine food and good living. It is the thinking person's holiday destination. From Romanesque Churches in the south to the famous wine-growing regions, from the Morvan National Park to the languid River Sâone, Southern Burgundy has much to offer the visitor. Throughout the region there are pretty unspoilt villages and valleys, Market Towns still plying the same trade that they have done for centuries, Chateaux and Museums all waiting to be discovered.

Accommodation
Your hosts, Steve and Vivienne Taylor have created high quality accommodation within the 300 year-old Chateau des Pommiers. A Country House deep in the Burgundy countryside, surrounded by many hectares of Burgundy vines. There are four large bedrooms, all of which have en-suite facilities, and one self catering apartment with a twin or double bedroom, a single third bed in the living area, full cooking facilities, TV, shower and wc.

For our bed and breakfast clients there is TV and radio in the guest lounge and selection of DVD's for use. Guests are encouraged to use the extensive grounds in which to walk or enjoy the sun. For the self-catering clients an area of garden is allocated for exclusive use and the private pool is available by arrangement.

For all guests it is always possible to find a secluded corner in the large garden in which to sunbathe or relax with an un-interrupted view of the countryside.

Food and drink
Steve and Vivienne are accomplished cooks, able to provide high quality meals at reasonable prices on most evenings. We do however sometimes take evenings off but in those cases we can recommend good local restaurants where you will find wholesome and traditional menus. We have an excellent choice of local wines from the Maconnais and Beaujolais, together with wines from elsewhere in France. At lunchtime for the walkers or cyclists we can direct you to a convenient auberge where you can enjoy the ambiance in the company of the local inhabitants. At lunchtimes these seemingly quiet bistros come alive as the farm-workers and vignerons all crowd in for much needed sustenance.

In the evenings, if you feel like a night out, we can recommend and direct you to a local restaurant ora little further to Macon or Cluny. There are many to choose from, all offering good meals at reasonable prices. Alternatively, after your evening meal relax in the comfort of our homely country house.
